My daffodils are blooming even tho it's been really cold here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Each day the days grow longer, at first I noticed the extra light in the evening but now it's in the morning also!

This year the drought seems to be lessening in our area, and I'm looking forward to getting outside.Working in my garden and trying to decide how I want it to look is like painting a picture.  First you lay down the foundation, then build on it, one step at a time.

 One of my favorite activities is making photos of my garden and turn them into fine art paintings  Some of my favorite plants are the Moon Vine and the Hyacinth Bean Vine planted together. Just like a painting they include good elements of design.  Each vine is very different, giving variation in size, texture, color and values.

  Since I'm getting older, I realize how important it is to eat wholesome food, so I'm planning to grow an organic garden.
