Seeing fall through artist eyes is a very exciting privilege!
Everywhere there is brilliant color, so many colors it is difficult to distinguish all of them.
How does the artist decide what to include in a fall painting?
1. What do you see with your artist eyes? Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Yellow pale? Just the selection of yellow is a big job. What about reds? What's your choice here? Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Red Deep and lots of others. A perfect selection for blue is still to be made. Consider Cerulean, or Cobalt, or Ultramarine Blue? Color selection will help you see fall through your artist eyes.
2. Your artist choice of paint combinations will make the best greens, oranges and the beautiful wine colors of fall.
3. Decide which support is most appropriate. Watercolor is great for softness or up close. And, so are oils. Perhaps it is a picture that needs to be painted with pastels or mixed media to portray the mood you see and feel.
4. Selection of the scene to be painted is of the utmost importance. Using a view finder, find a scene that has lots of light and shadow. Also, focus on a very small area to represent. This works if you are painting plein air or in the studio.
5. Express your emotions with brush strokes. Does your artist eye see movement, beauty and peace in this scene? Express what you see and feel with your brush strokes.
My fellow artist request is that you start a new painting today, when you have questions click here to contact me, I'm available to help.

The Art Show at Lake Rabun kicked off about 7AM on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Lake Rabun pavilion is a beautiful place for an art show and this year it was expanded into the downstairs area. Each booth was filled with beautiful oil and watercolor paintings. Most were original paintings by artists that I've known for a long time.
What a lovely group! Artist were walking fast, carrying loads of racks, easels, promotional materials and of course their paintings. In a hurry, to get set up before 9AM. Most of us made it. It was a great day for all and , I met lots of very nice folks and really enjoyed my day by the lake.
Anita Elder stopped by to chat and talk about the plein air oil paintings she is focusing on right now. You will find her web site at http://artloft.net.
Kimberly Crowe and Murphy Ayala were set up on one side of me. How wonderful it is to be young, and have lots of energy, they both were very friendly and talented. Murphy is from Charlotte, NC, her web site is http://murphyayala.com. Kimberly is a local artist and lives at Lake Rabun, her husband was in and out and I enjoyed chatting with them. Kimberly's e mail address is beargap@alltel.net.
John Boozer was in the booth next to mine, on the other side, he is so talented and freely shares his extensive art knowledge. His web site is http://boozerart.com.
These are the people that I spent most of my day with and invite you to visit each web site for more beautiful art. There were many North Georgia Arts Guild members that exhibited, and helped in so many ways.
And a huge thank you for my husband, Ronnie. Setting up and taking down is the tiring part of exhibiting at art shows, he is always there to help
I would love to hear your stories about art shows that you've exhibited in.. Were they well attended? Was the promoter organized? How was parking? What was the funniest thing that happened? Where did you exhibit? What kind of building?
It is important to me that you add your comments and tell others about my blog and web site. Thank you for helping with this, and let me know what I can do to help you in return.
The Northeast Georgia Arts Tour at Greenleaf Gallery was a very informative and an interesting time.
New people from the Arts Tour came in each day. There were other artists, checking the tour out, making contacts and enjoying their artist day out.
There were people from as far away as California that came to check out the art of all the artist represented by Greenleaf Gallery. Making purchases to take home with them.
I talked to folks getting ready to buy paintings for their apartment, gave out information about giclee's and how they are a great buy. How using an artist's note cards makes a special gift to everyone you send a card to.
The artists that came in were very unique in their own way, and, what a wonderful exchange of cards, ideas and stories.
Thank you Rose and Carroll for this wonderful opportunity of gallery representation and participation in the Northeast Georgia Arts Tour.
This year Carroll and Rose Greenleaf of Greenleaf Gallery, Clayton, GA, have extended an invitation to me to demonstrate my art on Sunday, June 22 and Sunday June 29, 2008. My hours begin at 11am till.... .
It would be an honor to have you come join me, and browse all the beautiful artwork. Please bring a guest or two or three and be a part of a wonderful story that tells of two days filled with enchanting art and friends - old and new.
You’ll be experiencing original paintings and giclee’s, matted and framed, in museum quality materials, with dust cover, bumpers, wired and ready to hang in their new home. Also, greeting cards featuring three of my paintings, ready to spread beauty and good news to whoever and wherever the mail carries them.
I very much look forward to seeing and sharing these two special days with you!
Sharing beauty from my heart to yours.

Happenings in my World of Art are many these days. As I am blessed with many like minded people in my World of Art.
As I mentioned before my watercolor painting "Conasauga Morning " has been juried into the "Memories" show at Quinlan Arts Center. The opening reception is May 29, 2008. Awards will also be given then.
The North Georgia Arts Guild show at the Georgia Heritage Art Center, Tallulah Falls, GA is hanging and beautiful! There are many paintings there by well known regional artists. This is a group that I have been a member of since 1998. If you are interested in becoming a member of an active and very friendly group, this is the place to be.
And last, but not least, Ezinearticles.com has published my second article.
The title "Gardening and Landscape Painting" are two of my many interests.
Also, another big interest is the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Research Program. 10% of the sales of my paintings, giclees and cards are donated to breast cancer research.
As most of you know, my daughter Viki, was taken by mastatic breast cancer
at the age of 50. Have you had a similar experience, or know someone who is trying to cope with their loss? I would love to hear how you have been coping and also about how you are moving forward. What are the things you do to honor her memory?
You are invited to contact me stating the nature of your e-mail, whether it's regarding my paintings, giclees, cards or my interest in breast cancer research, I look forward to hearing from you and I will answer you.
I have donated two framed and matted giclees of the "Home Place" to be raffled at the Relay for Life Walk, (coming up the last weekend of May, in both areas to two banks.
The Colony Bank in Rochelle, Ga and the United Community Bank,Qullian Corners Branch, Gainesville, GA. If you are in either of these areas, please take the time to stop and donate to this very worthy cause.
Conasauga Morning has been juried into the Memories Exhibit at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center at Gainesville. GA
Opening reception is May 29 and the show will hang til August 11.
Mr. R and I took a day trip last summer, and drove to this lake. We ate our picnic lunch, took snapshots and talked to campers before going on our way down a long dirt road, where we saw only a couple of cars and very few people.
This was my favorite snapshot, so it is now a watercolor painting.

Stacey Kennedy is one of the most artistic people I know. Does she paint oil or watercolor paintings? No. Does she teach art? No. Then
why is she known as One Artistic Lady?
She has used her talents in the congregations of Riverbend Baptist
Church, Gainesville, GA and the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, GA.
She has been instrumental in running a soup kitchen, decorated I'm
sure, to make it more pleasant for the people who come there, she
has also taught a class on how to make cornice boards for mothers
and daughters to do things together. She has made props for
Musicals, made banners and participated in many other creative
projects over the years.
For her personal enjoyment she likes to turn old picture frames into
unique trays. In her "Spare Time, she loves to jog and run 5K races.
You see there are many attributes that endure Stacey to us:
1. She is a Christian
2. Wife of Bucky Kennedy, pastor of The First Baptist Church
of Vidallia, GA and President of The Georgia Baptist Convention
3. Mother of Hannah, 17 and Ivey, 13
4. Daughter,sister and great friend
5. Teacher, Teaches Special Education full time
Stacey constantly finds time to give back with her artistic abilities.
A good example is the "While You Were Out" kitchen remodel for
a friend whose father had passed away. Not only did she use her skills
to make this kitchen cheerful and uplifting, she has grown spiritually
with her friend and her son has become extra special.
At home Stacey's artistic talents are still at work with reworking her
furniture and just about starting over with the decorations for her
"home in the city".
Stacey and Bucky have been married for 20 years, and strive to
provide a Godly home for Hannah and Ivey as well as the many
people who visit there. She states that their family must overcome
the same hurdles as other families, they just have a great love for
each other.
Stacey has been an inspiration to me for almost three years! The
first thing I see when I wake up is her beautiful stenciling.
Thank you Stacey, for taking the time to talk with me,
you are not only an artistic lady you are a gracious lady!

"How Divine", as Candice Olsen states, to have the privilege of teaching The Art of Cooking to my grandson!
In our area the school children have had a spring break this week and Mr A, as he is lovingly called has been visiting with Mr. Ron and I each day. We've been grocery shopping several times, walked, and rode the bicycle as well as playing games and War with Mr. Ron.
But, the most exciting activities have been the cooking. From the calamity of making a strawberry smoothie (the bottom came out of the blender, with the blender full no less) to successfully cooking scrambled eggs and beef stroganoff.
There definitely is an art to teaching this young man to cook. First, he loves it, and is eager to learn, which makes the teacher's job easy. As in everything that is successful in life, one must prepare before starting the project. This has been my focus this week.
Don't know if we are ready to have a show on the cooking channel but we are having fun. Which is an art in it's self..
Do you have a child or grandchild that loves to cook? Please share your experiences with me thru the comments section. I would love to hear from you.
Also, at http://www.ellenebreedlovedavis.com/, there is a Contact the Artistpage where you can sign up for the newsletter I send out about events that are happening in my ART world. The newsletter is only sent for important news, so your in box will not be filled with useless info, ("I'm busy and I know you are to"). Your information is totally confidential and will never be shared.
